Questions
Is Learn Thai For Free really free?
Yes. Every lesson, the alphabet course, the tone trainer, songs and the AI speaking practice are free. There are fair daily limits on the AI features so we can keep them free for everyone.
Do I need to learn the Thai alphabet?
No, but it helps. You can learn with Thai script and romanization together, fade the romanization out as you learn, use romanization only, or read Thai script only if you already can.
How long does it take to learn Thai?
With 15 minutes a day, most learners can handle everyday situations after the first stage (about 2-3 months) and hold simple conversations after the full course.
How do you teach the tones?
Every romanized syllable carries its tone mark (and optional tone colours), the audio is checked for correct tones, and the tone trainer and speech feedback make you hear and say them.
Do I need an account?
No. Start a lesson right away; your progress is saved automatically. Sign in with Google any time to keep it on all your devices.
Is it Central Thai?
Yes: standard, polite, modern Central Thai as spoken in Bangkok, with notes on Northern and Isan words you will hear in Chiang Mai and the northeast.
